BEHIND

THE MUSIC

FOUNDATION

Michael's passion for music began at the age of six. Growing up, he performed in concert bands, marching bands, and wind ensembles, experiences that shaped the way he approaches music today. Under the mentorship of acclaimed composer Robert W. Smith, he built a strong foundation in composition, orchestration, and musical storytelling—skills that continue to define every film and visual project he scores.

EXPLORATION

As a young musician, Michael embraced a wide range of musical styles and disciplines. He performed as a vocalist, drummer, and saxophonist with the band Borrowed Reality, and in 2007 released his first classical album, Windsong, composing and producing the project using early digital orchestration technology. Those experiences fostered the versatility, curiosity, and storytelling instincts that continue to shape his work as a composer.

COMPOSITION

Since focusing on film composition, Michael has written more than 20 original scores for animated films, short films, documentaries, and commercial projects. His work is driven by a commitment to serving the story and helping directors bring their creative vision to life. Along the way, his music has earned recognition from award-winning filmmakers and studios, including having his original score for Iron Crown selected by Blumhouse for its emotional direction, tone, and storytelling.
